Thank you to everyone who attended our first Title 1 Folk Dance Night. Our music teacher, Mrs. Spindler, taught and lead families through four folk dances from different parts of the world, creating an evening filled with movement, laughter, and learning. Dancing is such a fun way to bring community together, and we loved seeing students and families make memories on the dance floor. Thank you for making our first event such a wonderful success. 🕺🪩
The honorable Judge Maldonado made a return appearance for our fifth graders this week. The same topic as last year: which kind of pet is best, a cat or dog? Students turned into lawyers as they examined the evidence, prepared arguments, and created counterpoints on the spot. The courtroom was lively, and the results...divided. Cats won in Ms. Meyers' homeroom, and dogs won in Mrs. Maldonado's homeroom (the results of which were in no way influenced by the title of "Corgi Court"). Both classes presented awesome claims for an intense debate. Which side do you choose?
Mrs. Houston's class enjoyed "Spookley The Square Pumpkin" story and activities for Pumpkin Day in First Grade. Counting seeds, sink or float experiment, and decorating shapes name a few of the spooktacular activities. Students wrapped up the day with a Spookley treat.
Next week, October 26th - 30th, Shadeville will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week!
Happy Boss's Day to our amazing Principal and Assistant Principal! On Friday we celebrated these two amazing ladies with a little dress up and a dirty soda bar.

Shadeville is hiring! Join the Warrior family today!
Congratulations to these incredible 5th graders – Everett Zak, Lakelynn Spears, and Savannah Larney – for being selected to participate in the Florida Elementary Music Educators Association (FEMEA) Northern Regional Honor Choir! These students worked so hard over the last few months to prepare their audition, and we are so proud of them for being accepted to this huge honor! These students will get to learn, sing, and perform alongside other students from our region under the direction of a special guest clinician!
Congratulations as well to these 3rd graders – Scarlett La Tour, Declan Lester, and Aubrey Barwick – for being nominated and accepted to participate to FEMEA's Rising Stars Music Festival. These 3 students will get to participate in a day long workshop exploring music and movement with students from across the state of Florida!

3rd grade recently took a field trip to Aunt Louise's Farm! They visited the corn maze, held cute bunnies, learned about the animals, enjoyed feeding the animals, and more!

Ms. Meyers’ class celebrated a SWEET milestone! Students passed 100 i-Ready Math lessons with 100% accuracy, and we celebrated their hard work with a popsicle party! Way to go, mathematicians!

Learning takes energy, and a healthy school lunch helps give students the fuel they need to focus, learn and grow. Observed since 1962, National School Lunch Week highlights the important role school meals play in supporting student health, learning and success.
Across Wakulla County Schools, we continue to see just how important that access is. During the 2025–2026 school year, participation increased by 17,784 breakfasts and 58,436 lunches — more than 76,000 additional meals served across the district.
This year, meals are available to every WCS student at no cost, helping ensure students can come to the table, get what they need and return to class ready to learn.
This National School Lunch Week, we celebrate the important connection between good nutrition, student well-being and success in the classroom

Wakulla County Schools will be CLOSED Friday, October 9, 2026.
After continued monitoring of Tropical Storm Isaias and the potential impacts to Wakulla County, Superintendent Rick Myhre has made the decision to close all Wakulla County Schools tomorrow.
The safety of our students, staff and families remains our highest priority.
For additional information regarding this decision, please see the email sent today from Superintendent Myhre.
Monday, October 12, remains a scheduled Teacher Planning Day with no school for students. Students will return to school Tuesday, October 13.
Families and staff should continue to monitor email, text messages, the WCS website, mobile app and district social media platforms for official updates.

Wakulla County Schools is actively monitoring Tropical Storm Isaias and the latest forecasts for the Gulf Coast. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and make any decisions regarding school closures or schedule changes as the potential impact to Wakulla County becomes clearer.
At this time, all Wakulla County Schools are scheduled to operate on a regular schedule Friday, October 9, 2026.
Families are encouraged to make sure their contact information is current in the Focus Parent Portal to ensure they receive timely updates.
Should any changes become necessary, official information will be communicated through email, text message, the Wakulla County Schools website, the WCS mobile app and all school and district social media platforms.

Ms. Meyers' class was Rocking Red today to show their support for the kids at TMH! It was a wonderful day to kick off Rock Your School. Remember to bring in those donations and dress up this week.
